Why do you think you are suited to operating a McDonald's franchise?

I am a holder of a Master's degree in Business and Law from the University of Manchester. This degree in Business and law gives me an understanding of how one runs a business thereby affording me success in running a McDonald’s Franchise. My legal practice gives me a platform to interact with different business client and premises, an experience that informs my decision in running another business. My previous experience in working at Café Delight as the proprietor from 2007-2012 prepared me well to manage a high-end business like a McDonald’s franchise. I was responsible for making critical decisions like organising, leading, controlling and planning which aimed towards benefiting the business in addition to ensuring health and safety of all staff in the business. Furthermore, my business experience helps me acquire commercial awareness skills hence an excellent influence in the business. I have managed over 50 employees while working at Iletim Elektrik a management skill necessary to run a McDonald’s franchise.

Describe a time when you challenged your people to be more customer responsive

While working at Café Delight, I had the responsibility to mobilise employees toward ensuring customer satisfaction. I called a meeting meant to address employee’s experience with customers. In the meeting, employees aired their grievances toward maintaining and attaining a better relationship with customers stating the challenges as checking service time and confusing customer orders. As the manager, I asked the staff to be attentive to customer details, be polite, takes the shortest time to serve the clients as well as maintain the quality of food as per the customer’s preference. It was a challenge to delight the customers while offering them quality services. Within two weeks, there was an increase in the number of customers visiting the café hence rise in profitability. Employees being more customers responsive were essential in improving the business image.

Describe an occasion when something you did contributed significantly to the profitability of your business organisation?

I have been a leader and member of different teams pursuing both legal and business related activities. Most significantly, I am the founder and a trustee of Bright Education Centre situated in Newcastle-under-Lyme. I spearheaded the group in collecting charity boxes to raise fund to help schools and community members in housing projects. I proposed undertaking two fundraising event annually to collect enough fund to finance the group projects. Under my leadership, we managed to raise approximately £450,000. This fund helped to sponsors a new building program hence the school got awarded a boarding license. In addition to being a trustee in the group, I have been offering legal guidance to community members concerning housing and immigration matters. The service assists not only the community members but also the group as the service attracts more individuals who donate some resources geared towards development. Over the time I have been in the group, the financial, as well as member’s capacity, improved making the group successful in developing housing to serve the community. With the same leadership, I can spearhead a McDonald’s franchise to the success of employees, the company’s reputation and myself.

Give a recent example of a challenging decision you have faced and how you went about handling it.

Working at Lucky Seven Taxis has its share of stun decision making occasions. Recently, I am a member of a contract team where we must gain school contracts from the local authority. A school from the locality offered a contract that seemed appealing as it was the highest we ever had. However, the terms of engagement were stricter on our part. The local authority demanded that we stay in the school all day waiting for clients without engaging in any other clients around us. Though they offered a considerable amount of money for that deal, I decided we strike off the deal because, in the long-run, the Lucky Seven Taxis may lose its relevance around the area. It was a tough decision to overlook the profitability against a big deal. I decided to renegotiate the contract where we had to be in the school premises whenever students get out of school or when called to offer immediate service. With this deal, we were able to complete work on time as well as maintain clients around our working place.

Give an example of how your ability to think longer-term paid off for your business or organisation.

As earlier mentioned, I am the founder and trustee of Bright Education Centre whose growth has been gradual. At first, the group started with a simple idea of developing one school in the locality, but now, the project covers many school and community housing projects. The level of finance commenced with only two people contributing toward development. I proposed that we incorporate other members of the society who were willing to support the course by conducting fundraising annually to increase the funds. Later, I recommended two fundraising meetings per year where the idea led to collecting more than £450k. Currently, Bright Education Centre has some growth that attracts many donors as a result of the successful projects completed. The experience and my leadership bring joy to individuals as well as the group in servicing and addressing the community’s legal and educational needs.

Describe a time when you did something personally that you feel helped inspire your team.

While managing Café Delight, a time came when there were many customers than we expected. At that time, the waiters and waitresses were few, given that they worked in shifts, and offering services to the customers felt tiresome. As a leader, I took it upon myself to assist them and serve the customers to reduce the workload from the attendants. I served the customers for around three hours until the number decreased. That day, there was a seamless flow of services and a happy mood at the café. Over the time I worked at Café Delight, there was an excellent rapport between the management and staffs thereby increasing the overall productivity. Working with the employees at a time they were under pressure inspired them to work more prudently and hard. At times, they approached me to consult about issues in the workplace which did not happen before I chipped in to help. It was a show of concern to employees which I can transform into productivity in a McDonald’s franchise.
